Direct Skill Support
Individualized, BCBA-Led Support to Build Communication, Independence, & Behavior Skills
Help for children who need consistent, hands-on support to build skills and reduce challenging behaviors across daily routines. Some kids need more consistent, direct support to develop their “real world toolkit.”

You Might Be Here Because
• Your child is struggling with communication, independence, or behavior across multiple areas
• You’re seeing frequent meltdowns, avoidance, or difficulty with daily routines
• Progress with past services has been slow, inconsistent, or hasn’t carried over
• You feel like your child needs more than occasional support to make meaningful change
• You want support that actually fits your child, not a one-size-fits-all program, scheduling specific to half or full days of therapy, or having to remove your child from school to access intervention
What This Service Is
Direct Skill Support provides hands-on, BCBA-delivered intervention 2-5 hours per week to help your child build meaningful, functional skills and reduce challenging behaviors.
This is a more intensive level of support than coaching or consultation, with consistent, direct sessions focused on real-life application.
We May Work On
• Communication (functional communication, expressing needs, reducing frustration)
• Daily living skills (self-care, routines, independence)
• Emotional regulation and coping skills
• Reducing challenging behaviors (meltdowns, aggression, avoidance, etc.)
• Flexibility, transitions, and tolerance for change
• Social and play skills

Why Choose From the Nest’s Direct Skill Support Service?
1. You work directly with a BCBA—no technicians or layered staffing
2. Not limited by insurance requirements, billing codes, or rigid programming restrictions
3. Focused on real-life, functional skills, not compliance-based goals
4. Flexible, individualized approach tailored to your child and family
5. Parent collaboration is built in to support carryover and long-term success
6. Focused, intentional hours (2-5 per week) with a master’s level clinician = major impact without majorly impacting the family schedule
7. In-person support, with virtual parent collaboration as needed to work with your busy schedule
8. Ongoing and in-the-moment adjustment based on your child’s progress and needs
9. Data collected on progress every session so you can see the progress and the BCBA can see what is (or isn’t) working
10. Because we are a private pay service, we’re not restricted on the populations we can support. Your child needs the service but doesn’t have an autism diagnosis? We’re here for you.

Not sure if Direct Skill Support is the best fit for your child? I’m more than happy to help figure it out!
| A Great Fit For | Not The Best Fit If |
| Your child needs more consistent, hands-on support across multiple areas | You’re looking for occasional or low-intensity support (see our infographic for more of our service offerings) |
| Your child needs to develop skills in areas sometimes not covered by insurance, like meal prep, self-care, or chore independence, or is otherwise no longer covered by insurance | You want services fully covered by insurance |
| You want a highly individualized approach balanced with proven techniques (evidence-based practices) | You’re more in need of specialized childcare or respite-type care than skill-building |
| You’re open to being involved in the process and supporting change at home | You prefer a clinic-based ABA model |
